But The Games Is On

Meet The Staff

Mark Travis, Founder/Editor/Writer

Mark Travis is a freshman at Ohio University majoring in online journalism and pre-sports management. Travis started writing back in 2008, when Michael Crabtree and the Texas Tech Red Raiders inspired him to start his own website. Mark’s first site, But The Game Is On, got him his first media credential in the summer of 2008 when he covered the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Houston Astros Double-A affiliate. Travis gained media access to Team USA Basketball, NIKE and the NBA in the summer of 2009 and has interviewed the likes of Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and many other NBA stars. In 2011, Travis partnered up his site with Big Lead Sports, the fifth largest sports property on the internet.

In December of 2011, Travis launched the But The Game Is On Sports Network, featuring websites dedicated to covering the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL as well as college basketball and football. Travis contributes to all sites across his network. Travis is a fan of the Texas Rangers and a supporter of the San Fransisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers. His favorite players are Ryan Braun, Tim Lincecum and Josh Hamilton. You can follow him on Twitter @Mark_Travis.

Bryant West, Featured Writer

Bryant is a graduate from Saint Mary’s College of California who currently lives near Sacramento, California. Bryant jumped on the Sacramento Kings bandwagon back in the team’s glory days and has no plans to get off any time soon. His love of basketball soon directed him towards a career in sports journalism, and at Saint Mary’s he was the Men’s Basketball beat writer for the Collegian Newspaper. He plans to keep on writing about sports until the world implodes.

When Bryant isn’t watching sports, he’s thinking about sports or trying to catch glimpses of sports scorers. Aside from his diehard passion for the Kings, Bryant is a huge of the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, and of course his Saint Mary’s Gaels. His favorite thing in sports (besides winning) is the NBA Draft, and Mark has made a huge mistake in letting Bryant cover it. You can follow Bryant on Twitter @BSWest5.
